Slider Plates Perfect for Snowmobile Trailer Ramp Doors
Posted on:
It is always awesome to receive feedback from customers, especially when the customers share with us a new way to utilize one of the trailer cabinets or trailer accessories we manufacture here at Pit Products. We recently received some photos from one of our customers who has an amateur snowmobile racing team in Wisconsin. They purchased a set of 36 inch trailer door slider plates and installed them in their enclosed snowmobile hauling trailer.
The lesson for us was learning how they installed the trailer door gap covers in the snowmobile trailer.
Many enclosed snowmobile hauling trailers have a rear drop down ramp door and a front ramp door with the concept being that snowmobiles can be driven up the rear door ramp after you are done riding for the day, parked inside the trailer, and then the snowmobile can be driven out of the trailer by driving down the front ramp door. No need to manually roll the snowmobile into the trailer backwards on a dolly nor is it necessary to turn the snowmobile around in order to exit from the trailer.
You can clearly see the gap that exists between the rear ramp door and the trailer floor before the slider plate is installed. It is easy to see how the skis could scrape across this gap and become damaged. Damaging the trailer floor is another issue to consider here.
After the slider plate has been installed the snowmobile is able to be driven up the rear ramp door easily as the trailer door transition flap helps the snowmobile to slide across the space between the ramp door and the trailer floor with ease.
You could “also install this (slider plate) on the front of the race trailer…you can wheel your generators in and out without having to go over the threshold of the door…great product.” All in all, our customer was very pleased. Their closing comment was, “The crossover plates were so easy to install, the shipping came right to me within a couple days, (it was) wonderful working with Pit Products.”
Wow…that sure makes us feel good! The trailer ramp transition flaps we manufacture are robustly built from quality diamond plate aluminum allowing you to load your valuable gear and vehicles with ease. We designed the trailer slider plates to be durable so you don't need to worry about loading anything you need to haul in your trailer across the plates. The trailer ramp slider plates help you roll smoothly over that gap between your enclosed trailer door and your trailer floor. Many people purchase these trailer floor gap covers so they can easily roll tool carts, utility carts, gasoline generators, tool boxes, pit carts, and many other types of rolling storage accessories that are vital to have close at hand.
We know you’ll be satisfied by our trailer door slider plates and our other products.

Slider Plates for Rear Ramp Door
The snowmobile racing team installed one 36 inch crossover plate over the top of the threshold between the rear ramp door and the trailer floor. This slider plate allows the snowmobile to be driven up the rear ramp door and then smoothly slide across the trailer door slider plate without having the snowmobile skis catch on the gap or be damaged by the interface. You can clearly see the gap that exists between the rear ramp door and the trailer floor before the slider plate is installed. It is easy to see how the skis could scrape across this gap and become damaged. Damaging the trailer floor is another issue to consider here.
Our customer shared these comments with us:
“This (installation of slider plates) was very easy to do… (now) I will be able to drive and pull my sleds in backwards with dollies because I don't have to worry about that gap on the trailer door…(the slider plates are a) great product, very easy to install.”
Slider Plates for Front Ramp Door
The other 36 inch slider plate was installed by our customer over the gap between the front ramp door and the snowmobile trailer floor. This is the ramp door the customer uses from driving their snowmobiles out of the trailer. This ramp door is also used for rolling other equipment and gear into the snowmobile trailer such as tool carts, generators, and rolling storage boxes. Regarding the front drop down ramp door, our customer had this to say…You could “also install this (slider plate) on the front of the race trailer…you can wheel your generators in and out without having to go over the threshold of the door…great product.” All in all, our customer was very pleased.
