LD, of central Ohio, is a professional landscaper, and lawn care expert. His lawn maintenance trailer was a mess. LD had tool boxes sliding all over smashing his rakes. He had weed sprayers tipping over during transit which created a big mess. When he needed a fuel jug he had to climb over a bunch of other tools to get it, tripping all the way. Not to mention there were parts of his trailer showing some serious wear and tear.

Like most of us, LD needs to operate within a budget. Thus, our Pit Products team identified six (6) storage and loading accessories that transformed LD’s lawn maintenance trailer into a cleaner, leaner, organized, roving workshop.  

The Pit Products team began the overhaul with a Fuel Jug Rack mounted to the passenger side front wall of the v-nose enclosed cargo trailer. Installing the Fuel Jug Rack allowed LD to get his fuel containers off the floor where space is at a premium. It also allowed the fuel jugs to be safely stored and secured during transit. No wasted fuel due to shifting cargo. The fuel jug rack was installed high enough so a lawn tractor could park underneath it but still low enough to load the fuel containers easily.

On the other side of the front wall, of the v-nose trailer, Pit Products installed a Multi Use Bin as a place for LD to store his weed spray bottles, cleaning supplies, trash bags, and other miscellaneous equipment he needs for each job. The storage location allows for easy access to LD’s gear but keeps the supplies out of the way when not in use.

Underneath the Fuel Jug Rack the Pit Products team installed a Grease Gun Caddie. This storage location was chosen after LD mentioned that he’d like to be able to grab his grease gun from the side access door of the trailer. Care was taken to be sure the lawn mower would still have clearance to the side of the Grease Gun Caddie.

Next, Pit Products tackled rake and hanging tool storage. A Multi Use Bracket was screwed into the passenger side wall between the rear ramp door and the side access door. This rake storage location allows LD access to his rakes and other hanging tools from either door, even when the tractors are loaded into the trailer.

Alongside the Multi Use Bracket, the Pit Products crew mounted one of the most versatile and handy storage devices, the Key Chain Caddie. This handy unit is an awesome asset to any trailer. The Key Chain Caddie was installed next to the side access door offering LD the perfect spot to unload his pockets while he is on the tractor. The Key Chain Caddie is an excellent place to keep keys, wallets, cell phones, a note pad, CD’s, and other small gear you often need nearby.

Finally, our Pit Products team attacked one of the most used and most abused areas of the trailer. LD loads and unloads lawn tractors several times each day which adds up to hundreds of times each season.  This frequent loading and unloading takes a toll on the transition point between the rear ramp door and the trailer floor.  We offer a solution for this problem, the diamond plate Trailer Door Slider Plates, which are designed to keep a trailer in top shape.

The Trailer Door Slider Plates fit over the threshold between the ramp and the trailer floor. Once installed on the floor of the trailer, the diamond plate Trailer Door Slider Plates span the gap and help lawn equipment roll easily over that transition area. The Trailer Doors Slider Plates also fold up automatically when the ramp door is raised so they are out of the way. This was not only a highly functional improvement to the trailer but it also adds a sharp, clean, diamond plate look to the area that normally gets dirty and beat up.

When all was said and done, in just about 2 hours, and for less than $375, LD went from having an unorganized mess in his landscape trailer to having a roving workshop equipment trailer where everything has its own place. The landscape trailer overhaul will save wear and tear on LD’s equipment, will help him find his gear easier, and will allow LD to get fishing faster.
